I’ll just say it: I’m embarrassed to admit that I attend a Christian church. Christianity just has so much baggage that I don’t want to be associated with. I hate all the assumptions that flit through people’s minds when you say “I’m Christian.” Also, being Christian seems kind of uncool.
But I do attend a Presbyterian church. It’s a hippy dippy progressive church, but it’s still church. And I’ve been going to an Episcopalian service Wednesday nights because I love taking communion every week. And I am profoundly grateful that I’ve met Christians who are showing me that there’s more than one way to be Christian. That there is more than one way to read the Bible. And that maybe I can even be nourished by this crazy tradition.
